Tavistock Relationships was recently commissioned by the Department of Education to create an innovative specialised service that responds to the needs of couples who wish to explore and strengthen their relationship following adoption. The Adopting Together Service is delivered to all post-adoption parents; both heterosexual and same-sex couples; who are  seen in either couples therapy or parents’ groups. Based on our experience in this field, we offer specialist training to local authorities and organisations who work with adoptive couples.

The Adopting Together Service is delivered to all post-adoption parents, (also for couples where the children have been placed but not yet adopted and Special Guardians) and welcomes both heterosexual and same-sex couples who will be seen in either couples therapy or parents’ groups. Based on our experience in this field, we offer specialist training to local authorities and organisations who work with adoptive couples.

Our team of highly experienced therapists specialise in seeing adoptive couples together or in couples groups to explore the impact of adoption on their family and on their adult couple relationship. Our training offer is informed by the learning and research generated by this clinical work and is rooted in Tavistock Relationships' decades of expertise and experience in working with the dynamics of adult couple relationships and transitions to parenthood.
