New Course, Certificate in the Study of the Couple Relationship, provides expansion outside of London
Pictured above is CEO Andrew Balfour after he and Liz Salter (our Bristol-based Couple Psychotherapist) opened the first session of Tavistock Relationships’ new professional training qualification, which is being delivered in Bristol.
The Certificate in the Study of the Couple Relationship is a course designed to give already qualified therapists an understanding of psychoanalytic theory and technique as they relate to the adult couple relationship and provides students with an opportunity to think about how to apply this to their own clinical material.
Over the next months, the course will offer lectures, theoretical discussions, and clinical seminars. Each participant will have an opportunity to present some detailed clinical material which will be used to develop understanding of the psychoanalytic concepts related to unconscious couple processes.
Topics covered include shared unconscious phantasy & beliefs, hate, violence and aggression, oedipal issues in couples/families and psychosexual issues.
The course is being delivered at the office of local psychotherapy training organisation, The Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy, who have assisted with promotion amongst the well established therapeutic community in Bristol.
