In the article Joanna mentions the importance of partners doing small things for each other to make each other feel valued. She also highlights the importance of sharing and appreciating each others' roles and what they bring to the relationship. Saying 'sorry' in a helpful way is discussed too in relation to a genuine rather than tactical or dismissive approach. She says "At the moment our relationship is where everything is being dealt with, so it is stacked with pressures", and cites the need for good timing when raising difficult issues, and how the strains of lockdown can affect a couple's physical and emotional relationship.
