This years only specially tailored couples therapy training is now recruiting
For Immediate Release
Tavistock Relationships is holding a free open evening at its Hallam Street clinic in London on Friday 1 November from 6pm, giving people the chance to find out about its extensive training programmes in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Psychosexual Therapy. The internationally renowned charity is also holding a Training Insight Day on Saturday 16 November 2019.
Ranging from introductory and specialist programmes, to masters and doctorate level, all Tavistock Relationships’ courses are accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT).
Julie Humphries, Head of Training at Tavistock Relationships, explains: “Established 71 years ago, Tavistock Relationships has made its name as the leading trainer of couple therapists in the UK. With demand for couple therapy continuing to rise, we are calling on people considering a career change, or already working in the psychotherapy sector, to find out more about our training opportunities and this rewarding and flexible career helping couples facing challenges in their relationships.
“Training takes up to four years, depending on qualifications on entry and is part-time so it can be done alongside family and work commitments. Our student satisfaction ratings are extremely high and we have a proud record of offering work to our students within the organisation, using senior staff to deliver our teaching and offering in-house supervision.”
Andrew Balfour, Chief Executive of Tavistock Relationships, adds: “Couple therapy is a rich and rewarding career. It’s a life devoted to helping others in emotional difficulty. That in itself gives major rewards, but it is also a relatively flexible way of working - seeing people in the evenings or lunch time, so it often suits men or women looking to change from a more rigid nine to five working routine.
“A successful couple therapist in London can earn in the region of £80-£100 per session, and each year our graduates go on to work both for us and in their own private practices.”
Open Evening, Friday 1 November 2019
At the free Open Evening, visitors will have the chance to meet course trainers as well as current students to hear about the study requirements, what it’s like to be a student at Tavistock Relationships and the post graduate career opportunities that are available.
There will be two sessions at the Open Evening. The first from 6pm to 7pm will focus on the Introduction to Couple Counselling & Psychotherapy course. This three month course, which will next be running from January 2020, explores a range of themes in relation to the couple and the relationship, and is the foundation course for those wanting to train to work with individuals and couples.
The second session at the Open Evening will run from 7pm to 8pm and will focus on Tavistock Relationships’ Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy. This is a two-year course designed to provide knowledge, skills and opportunities for clinical practice in the area of psychosexual therapy. It qualifies graduates to practice as psychosexual therapists in statutory and voluntary sectors, as well as in private practice.
